Noah’s Ark

The picture on the left is my version of the Ark and animals. This project was REALLY labor-intensive. The kids at my former parish really enjoy it.

The core of the ark is simple pine. The planks on the hull and deck are made from White Oak. Brass escutcheon pins give it a realistic look of old shipbuilders. The cabin is ash-topped with a Walnut roof. A few coats of lacquer make it ready for little hands. The picture on the right is our version of the Ark. It is 18 3/4” long and 8 1/8” wide at its beam.

The hull is made from three pieces of 3/4” Baltic Birch sheet stock, and the gunwale is a single piece of wide Walnut. The cabin is Alder with a Maple top.
